How Have I Got Nothing Done Today?
from The Health and Sport Show
We all have the same 24 hours in a day, but why do some of us get more of our intended plans completed in that time, while others see the time flit away under-utilised? Tom gets to the bottom of motivation and helps you beat the curse of procrastination. KEY TAKEAWAYS Immediate tasks and interests tend to override plans or less immediate jobs so many things get shelved and put off for another day. Start with the end in mind. What are we ultimately trying to achieve? Well thought out, specific goals help with motivation and time management. Involve a friend in your planning. Often sharing this can result in a better thought through plan, and if someone else is aware of your goal, there is a good chance they are more likely to hold you accountable to it. Split your plan into priorities, your goal focused tasks, meaningful, your actions that are necessary or secondary, and your third tier tasks which are the things that are not required but seem to distract you anyway, such as scrolling through social media, T.V etc. BEST MOMENTS ‘How does one 19 year old manage to set up a one billion pound gym enterprise, yet when I was 19 sometimes I’d struggle to get out of the house on time?’ ‘The next level would be the tasks or things in our life that are meaningful. But these are not our priorities, these are second rung things.’ ‘Don’t try and live someone else’s dream. It must be what you consider success and you alone. Don’t get drawn into the Instagram culture or facebook falseness of what you think success is because only you know what success is to you.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES https://youtube.com/channel/UCQXAka99a6MdZexeEJaMZbA https://m.facebook.com/elevatehealthuk/ https://www.elevatehealthuk.com/ https://instagram.com/elevate_healthuk?utm_medium=copy_link ABOUT THE HOST TOM BUTTERFIELD I have always been interested in sports, unfortunately injuries and poor training decisions curtailed my dream of becoming a professional football player. I have always been very passionate about helping people and I get a real kick out of seeing people improve and make progress towards a chosen goal or aspiration. I have been actively learning and implementing knowledge for over 20 years with the aim of improving the level of service I can offer to my clients. This has included formal qualifications such as: BSc (Hons) in Sports Sciences Masters in chiropractic PGDip in Diagnostic Medical (Musculoskeletal) Ultrasonography 14 years clinical experience helping tens of thousands of members of the public to improve their health and wellbeing. Unofficially I have digested countless information in the form of audiobooks, books, videos, seminars, and countless conversations with experts within the health and wellbeing niche. I aim for at least one hour a day. The day I stop learning is the day I pack up my stuff and go home.
