How Many Knocks Do We Have to Take?
from Apophenic
This song was born out of a writing prompt from my wife. I write a lot of "message" songs, but she challenged me to put more of myself into it. "Knocks" is the result of that, and I may have overshot. "Knocks" is personal and raw, tapping into the sense of exhaustion that we all feel from the intensity of the past few years. It's about how capitalism depletes our energy... and how we respond to it.It features Andy Santospago on pedal steel guitar and other great musicians of the Boston area: Dave Brophy on drums & percussion, Joe McMahon on bass, and Peter Fernandez on keyboards.Patrons ($5 level) get early access to my releases (and MP3 320 downloads), plus exclusive access to demo versions and other more "vulnerable" posts. For one-time support (non-Patrons), this song is on No Love Songs, Vol. 2: https://boezi.bandcamp.com/album/no-love-songs-vol-2––Knocks | Michael BoeziRelease date: 1/31/2024CREDITS:Lyrics and music by Michael BoeziMichael Boezi: Voice, guitar Dave Brophy: Drums & percussion, backing vocals Joe McMahon: Bass guitar Andy Santospago: Pedal steel guitar Peter Fernandez: KeyboardsProduced by Michael Boezi and Dave Brophy Recorded at Studio Solitaire in Somerville, MA Engineered by Dave Brophy Arranged by Michael Boezi and Dave Brophy Mixed and mastered by Dave Brophy Cover photograph by Michael Boezi Cover design by Michael Boezi℗&© 2023 Control Mouse Media, LLC Published by Control Mouse Media, LLC, Boston, MA https://controlmousemedia.com All rights reserved.
