He has also written three best-selling books on technology and the future of medicine.  Currently, Dr. Topol serves as Executive Vice President at Scripps Research. In 2007, he founded Scripps Research Translational Institute, where he now serves as director. The Translational Institute seeks to combine advances in human genomic research with wireless technological developments to promote individualized approaches to healthcare.  Due to his research achievements, Dr. Topol is one of the top ten most cited researchers in medicine. A 2012 poll conducted by Modern Healthcare ranked him as the most influential physician leader in America.  Dr. Topol earned his bachelor's degree in biomedicine from the University of Virginia and his medical degree from the University of Rochester's School of Medicine and Dentistry.
