How Shaboozey got his name and Luke Bryan's teens' music taste | Music City Minute

from Music City Minute

Have you ever wondered what inspired Shaboozey's name? Well, it all goes back to his childhood. The "Bar Song" singer was born Collins Chibueze. His last name is Nigerian for "God is king." As you can imagine, his name was often misspelled and mispronounced. As a person with a somewhat unique name, I can empathize. It was this exact mishap from his high school football coach that directly led to his nickname, Shaboozey, which he decided to keep as his professional moniker as well.   Luke Bryan is getting real about the musical habits of his teenagers, Bo and Tate. The "Play It Again" singer said boys listen to a lot of rap and hip-hop. So, Bryan has made it his goal to have his music make it into their daily playlist. Not sure how he's going to pull that off. Maybe he'll get into to their streaming accounts a slyly add his songs to each playlist...?   I'm Sheena, and that's your Music City Minute.
