Because when you show people love, they don't forget it. For example, if I didn't thank people for helping me, I would've given up a long time ago. I've learned that saying thank you is a powerful tool because when you show people affection, it touches them. Why I say thank you as a sign of gratitude? A lot of people don't mean it when they say thank you, and you can feel it if it's not genuine. The act of appreciation is intentional, and practicing gratitude has many advantages. For a long time, I never showed gratitude, especially if it was a family member. I'd use their help without consideration, and I'd tell myself that we're family, so their help was a given. Though, life has a way of showing me things before I crash and burn. When I do something, and I notice that it's not right, or I begin to question my behavior. Usually, I start to see signs of the disadvantages that come with it. So, I never used to appreciate people until one family member, I normally get help from, began to comment about people who don't say thank you..."
