Cristina Daverio, Head of ESG research at Vigeo Eiris (V.E. – a Moody’s affiliate) and Noga Levtzion Nadan, CEO of Greeneye & Value^2, discuss the methodology and assessment methods of Companies by V.E. data and research providers. A total of 5,000 companies are included in V.E.’s global universe, out which 30 Israeli companies are currently rated. In order to become a top performer a company needs to disclose information and be as transparent as possible: disclose commitments to specific ESG topics, policies and targets, and how those commitments are being implemented (KPI). The assessment methodology and rating frame are based on international frameworks, 38 criteria in 6 areas according to ESG, which are customized according to materiality impact of each sector as well as risks that companies face. The data is derived from public information published by the company and other available credible sources. Controversies are measured according to their severity (impact on stakeholders), impact on the company (fine, reputation etc.) and corrective measures the company has taken.
