How to deal with a bigot
from Emotional Intelligence Developer · host Emotionalintelligencedeveloper
Excerpt: "Why it's important to deflect harmful people in your life. Did you know that your emotions are strong but not that strong? We're all vulnerable to certain triggers, and if you find the right person at the wrong time, your life can change. You can be a cool and calm person until you're not, and learning how to deal with a bigot can save you from unimaginable pain. The definition of a bigot, on Oxford languages on Google, reads as "a person who is obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, opinion, or faction. Especially one who is prejudiced against or antagonistic towards a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group." Therefore, if someone is unreasonable, in my opinion, it means their stubbornness prevents them from listening to reason. At work, I deal with a lot of people. Some of them are so rude that if I don't practice emotional intelligence development, I would've been reprimanded for other people's behavior. Meaning I would've mimicked how someone treats me, and I would've lost my job."
