Know the signs & symptoms of compassion fatigue: depression, insomnia, fatigue, heightened emotions, detachment, health problems, poor social/personal relationships, addictive behaviors, apathy/disconnection vs overengagement, “Superman Syndrome”. Ways to overcome compassion fatigue: self awareness, accountability partner, journaling, meditation, healthy socializing, bio reaction awareness, good nutrition, sleep hygiene, exercise, debriefing/counseling, personal & team rituals (remembrance services, attending funerals, lighting candles).
