HVMN Ketones & Metabolic Health l Using Exogenous Ketones for Fasting, Better Sleep, Exercise and Metabolic Flexibility

from Renee Belz & Lauren Sambataro · host Biohacker Babes

Michael Brandt, co-founder of H.V.M.N., joins the podcast for a comprehensive discussion on ketones and metabolic health. He breaks down what exogenous ketones are, whether we should take ketones while fasting, how they impact sleep & recovery, and shares information on the link between diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy & the ketogenic diet.Everything Michael Brandt does is fast and intense. Aside from cruising through marathons at a cool 6-minute mile pace, he and fellow Stanford alumni co-founder, Geoffrey Woo, have scaled H.V.M.N. in a few short years. Most recently, they introduced the second iteration of their flagship ketone drink, Ketone-IQTM. H.V.M.N. invented Ketone-IQTM because they believe people should spend more time with elevated ketone levels for better health and performance. Through Michael’s steadfast leadership, H.V.M.N not only launched the world’s first drinkable ketone, but is tracking to redefine the limits of human performance, metabolism, and longevity to combat the global metabolic health crisis. Alongside his co-founder, the duo secured a $6 million dollar contract from the U.S. Special Operations Command to continue research into the benefits of ketones. The pair gained early interest from pro-athletes including Former Olymian Speed Skater Apolo Ohno, Professional Racing cyclist Vittoria Bussi and Ultrarunner Jeff Browning and notable early investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, and Joe Montana (Hall of Fame NFL Quarterback). As a father of a newborn, Michael has increasingly limited free time but remains an avid triathlete and marathoner with a 2:42 personal record.SHOW NOTES: 0:51 Welcome to the show!3:16 Michael Brandt’s Bio4:15 Welcome Michael to the show!4:55 What are ketones?7:25 Highlights about ketones9:38 Does the brain need glucose?12:37 Metabolic flexibility & the body’s adaptations15:31 Getting into the “fat-adapted groove”17:21 Study: Exogenous ketones for appetite control19:12 Insulin sensitivity & resistance21:57 Does it support our metabolic health?23:24 Should we take ketones while fasting?24:48 How do we incorporate it into our daily routine?26:53 What’s the impact on sleep & recovery?29:31 What to stack with it31:33 *Magnesium Breakthrough Ad*34:05 Stacking it with psychedelics & breathwork37:21 Diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, Epilepsy & the Ketogenic diet39:45 Coconut oil, MCTs & C842:11 Best way to measure ketones43:57 Timeline Nutrition test for Urolithin A45:04 Nutrition of the future47:20 Study: Ketones & Heart Rate Variability49:58 Glucose control while sleeping52:39 Will ketones break a fast?55:02 His final piece of advice56:22 Where you can find Michael & H.V.M.N.57:03 Thanks for tuning in! RESOURCESHVMN Ketones – discount code: BIOHACKERBABESMagnesium Breakthrough – Code: BIOHACKERBABESHanu Health - pre-order now!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/biohacker-babes-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
