I couldn't quit because how would I pay the bills? How would I provide for my kids, let alone EVER retire? I stayed on a career path simply because I could not afford to take the pay drop if I had to redirect to another path. I couldn't start at the bottom of a new pay scale; I had worked too hard to get to the level I was at already. How would I get new skills for a different job?
