This conversation was so necessary. For most men, there’s a little boy spirit that is tough to evict. It shows up in different ways for different individuals. A consistent theme from this discussion is that little boys need their fathers, even when they become adults. Chapo and Savv (The Chop It Up Podcast) stopped by the set to share several vulnerable moments from their childhood, teenage, and adult years. The stories are too deep to capture here, but this was definitely an emotional roller coaster for me. One thing is for certain, and that is having a father is a blessing. Unfortunately, some learn that lesson only after losing a father, and others learn that lesson when they become fathers. We took advantage of this safe space to evaluate how fragile life is and the role that fathers play at every stage of life. Whether you’re a young boy learning how to hit a baseball or a young father learning how to manage a family, a strong, positive father (or father figure) influence is essential to navigate life. Of course, every familial scenario is not ideal, and many young men are left longing for father-son relationships that may never materialize. However, we need to keep the conversation going to influence the societal standards of fatherhood. This conversation, as do most, provides a transparent view of life through the lens of fatherhood; however, it does not exclude women.
