I Sat On This For Years: My Surgery, My Decision & Why I'm Finally Sharing It

from A Cup of Dri: Fitness Thoughts from My Car to Yours · host Adriana Mastronardi

I've been sitting on this for a long time and today I'm finally sharing it.In this episode I'm talking about my decision to have surgery. Not just the medical side of it, but the years of internal back and forth, the fear of what people would think as a fitness coach, and the moment I finally gave myself permission to say yes.I share the full story - three kids, almost 12 years of diastasis recti that no amount of physio or core work could fix, an umbilical hernia that became the real catalyst, and the honest truth about the cosmetic piece too. Because both things can be true at the same time: I earned every bit of this body, and I don't like parts of it. And I've decided that's enough of a reason.I also take you into my recovery two weeks post-op, walking with a walker, missing the gym, and leaning on my "How Can I" mindset to show up for myself in a completely different way than I'm used to.This one is personal. But I'm sharing it because I know there are women quietly sitting on a decision of their own and I want you to know that you don't owe anyone an explanation for what you choose for your body. The goal is always peace. Not perfection. Peace.
