British icon, DJ and producer IDRIS returns to Defected with house heater ‘Sima Agua’, featuring Cape Verdean singer and activist Mayra Andrade. Continuing a string of releases on the London label in 2024, including his Together series remix of Fish Go Deep’s iconic club anthem ‘The Cure + The Cause’ and infectious original ‘La Trumpeta’, Idris Elba’s house sound is currently dominating the club scene. As more releases are revealed, the DJ and producer aims to bring his global sound to the world stage, now working with vocalist Mayra Andrade. Having recorded music across Portugal, France, and her home of Cape Verde, the internationally acclaimed Mayra Andrade is also a proud LGBTQ+ rights activist, serving as an ambassador for the United Nations ‘Free And Equal’ campaign since 2015. This latest collaboration, ‘Sima Agua’, combines spoken word sections with hard-hitting percussion and Mayra’s evocative topline, creating an international house heater that celebrates the sound of Cape Verde in all its vivid beauty.
