We all have faith in God. How is that God? He is consciousness. This entire universe is consciousness. In our bodies, there is consciousness. Even if a single hair is pulled, there is sensation — that is consciousness.While Jesus was walking among the crowd, someone touched His garment. He sensed that feeling. Many people were touching Him, yet when this person with leprosy touched Him, He felt the power go out from His body. That sensation spread and healed the person of leprosy. Even just touching the garment is enough. That’s why, in our culture, there is a belief that one should not wear the veshti (dhoti) in a way that it drags on the ground. For example, great saints like Vallalar and priests of most religion wear their veshtis tied higher than usual. This is to prevent the spiritual energy or vibrations from flowing down through the garment and into the earth.This is because cloth is made from thread, and thread — especially cotton — comes from the earth. As such, the garment can act like a good conductor, drawing energy from the body and transferring it to the ground. Everything has its own vibration, and energy naturally flows. This entire universe is made of vibration. That vibration is the sound of *Om*. The Om sound and its energy are constantly spreading throughout the cosmos. That *Om* is the primordial sound; it is also the divine light (Jothi). Om is the source of everything. That is God. That is light. That is consciousness.So, the consciousness within us is nothing but the Om consciousness. That is the Omkara Jothi (divine light). Before the Jothi, there is Naadham (primordial sound). Naadham means movement — vibration. That consciousness is always in motion. Therefore, if one connects with that consciousness, one can connect with everything.During ancient times, at Gurukulams, they used to place a pottu (mark) on the forehead to help stabilize the Kundalini awareness at the third eye. It served as a constant reminder to stay aware and centered there.Even in the special Aga Dhava training sessions conducted at our Aalayam (UPF), we used to mildly pierce the third eye area with an acupuncture needle and then apply a heated substance over it. These practices were eventually discontinued, especially during the time when AIDS was spreading, as they were no longer considered safe. All of these were just methods — nothing more — to keep one’s awareness constantly focused at the third eye.If one stays focused at the third eye, they can remain in a state of awareness. That’s why, for those in leadership or administrative roles, it is beneficial to stay centered at the third eye. The next stage Is moving upward — that is, remaining at the Crown Chakra (Ucchi Kamalam).
