𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁? ILTACON2026 - Elizabeth Salsedo and Kathryn Rattigan
from People in Legal · host People in Legal - Andrew, Chantal, David, Grace, Jonathan, Roni, Tim
At #ILTACON2026, Tim Kenney sat down with Elizabeth Salsedo-Surovov and Kathryn Rattigan from Robinson+Cole for a practical conversation about AI governance, adoption and what it really takes to operationalise an AI policy inside a law firm. Their message was clear: writing the policy is only the beginning. The harder part is training people, meeting them where they are, understanding how different practice groups actually work, and making sure the tools solve real problems. 💡 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀: → AI governance can’t sit in a silo. It needs input from lawyers, technology, HR and other parts of the firm. → Start with the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺, then the process, then the tool. → Training needs to reflect the role and practice area, not just deliver one generic message to everyone. → One surprising challenge? Junior lawyers can sometimes be more hesitant about AI than senior partners. → The strongest AI adopters may be lawyers who already have deep subject-matter expertise and can quickly judge whether an AI output is good or bad. And perhaps the best framework from the conversation: 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆. 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀.
