Dr. Ko joined Stanford Medicinein 2012 and serves as Director and Chief of Medical Dermatology for StanfordHealth Care (SHC) while also spearheading the dermatology department's effortsaround network development, digital health, quality/safety/performanceimprovement, and value-based care. He is active in a number of leadership roleswithin the organization including as an Associate Chief Quality Officer andphysician dyadic partner to the Chief Experience Offer, as well as co-chair ofthe Clinic Advisory Council, a forum of medical and executive leaders ofStanford Health Care’s Ambulatory clinics. His passion for melanoma, earlycancer detection, and improving care delivery drives his efforts and researcharound leveraging advances in machine learning and artificial intelligence toincrease the breadth of populations that can be reached. He developed and runsa digital care delivery program at SHC, providing virtual visits for patientsand remote consultations for referring clinicians. He conducts research on andengages in collaborations around interventions that layer advances in machinelearning on digital health capabilities to enhance access, quality and value ofdermatologic care and is a founder and leader of the Stanford Translational AIin Dermatology (TRAIND) group. He chairs the American Academy of Dermatology'sCommittee on Augmented Intelligence. Dr. Ko has also been driven to find newtreatments for alopecia areata, an immune-mediated condition that can progressto total hair loss through various clinical trials and translational researchefforts. He sits on the clinical research advisory board of the NationalAlopecia Areata Foundation and is a founder and co-director of the SkinInnovation and Interventional Research Group (SIIRG) which conducts clinicaland translational research on skin disease. He graduated magna cum laude fromHarvard University and worked in investment banking; mergers and acquisitionsat JP Morgan before going on to earn a combined medical and business degree atTufts University. During medical school, he was a member of the Alpha OmegaAlpha honor society. Dr. Ko then performed his residency at the HarvardDermatology Residency Training Program where he served as chief resident. Alpa is the VicePresident and Chief Patient Experience Officer at Stanford Health Care. She isresponsible for developing and driving core patient and family centeredprograms, services and patient satisfaction reporting/analytics to support thegoals of the organization. In addition, Alpa has led the Design Thinkingefforts and developing new services to advance leading edge and coordinatedcare. Alpa also previously served as the Administrative Director for PerformanceExcellence at Stanford Health Care.  Prior to joining Stanford, Alpa was ahealthcare strategy and operations consultant with Deloitte Consulting for overeight years. Alpa has had the opportunity to work with academic medicalcenters, physician group practices, and multi-hospital health systems acrossthe country.
