Serville Poblete is a Toronto-based screenwriter and director whose latest documentary short, In the Morning Sun, has already made waves on the festival circuit, earning the Jury Award at SXSW before premiering at Hot Docs.The film is a deeply personal portrait of his mother’s connection to home, memory, and migration, exploring how everyday rituals — from music to technology — can bridge the distance between Canada and the Philippines. Known for blending intimate storytelling with poetic visuals, Poblete has also directed acclaimed projects including Altar Boy, Lovely, and the documentary short King’s Court.
