Os hablo muchas veces de que los implantes son la mejor opción para reponer dientes perdidos. Pero mucha gente cree que no es candidata por diferentes motivos, por eso hoy me gustaría aclarar esas dudas. Os diré que normalmente se pueden colocar en casi todos los pacientes, aunque si es verdad, que con algunos debemos de tener consideraciones especiales. ¿Puedo colocarme implantes si estoy medicándome? Es una pregunta que nos hace muchísima gente, o más que pregunta, nos lo afirman, ¡¡No puedo colocarlos!! En un porcentaje muy alto, en ese tipo de pacientes se pueden colocar, como bien decía antes, teniendo en cuenta consideraciones especiales. Por ejemplo: pacientes que están con anticoagulantes como el adiro. A esos pacientes si se le pueden colocar siguiendo los protocolos establecidos en los que, según la cantidad que tome y si son por vía oral o intravenosa. Por ejemplo: nosotros ya le informamos en todo momento al paciente de cómo va a ser el procedimiento y que es lo que va a tener que hacer O, por ejemplo, a muchísimas mujeres con la menopausia, como el médico les dice que necesitan calcio para los huesos, pues ellas creen que como el implante va al hueso, no pueden colocarlos. Y no es así, si pueden simplemente hay que ver que están tomando para eso y ver si hay que tomar consideraciones especiales. ¿Puedo ponerme un implante si soy fumador o fumadora? Nuestro gran enemigo, y el de los implantes. El tabaco se asocia a fracaso de los implantes porque es irritante y dificulta la cicatrización y aumenta el riego de infecciones. Por ello, es recomendable no fumar ni las dos semanas antes, ni las ocho semanas posteriores a la colocación de ellos mismos. Nosotros estamos comenzando con un tratamiento para conseguir dejar de fumar que dura 25 días y funciona en el 100%, demostrado este porcentaje científicamente. Y lo que hace es reducir la ansiedad por el tabaco para que, en cinco días, ya ha dejado de fumar. ¿Todos los pacientes se pueden colocar implantes? Casi siempre, a no ser en pacientes que tienen el calcio muy muy mal y les dan una medicación que nos dificultan el poder colocarlos por riesgo de osteonecrosis del hueso. O pacientes que han pasado hace poco por un tratamiento de quimioterapia o radioterapia, en estos casos, tendremos que esperar al menos seis meses desde la última dosis. O pacientes que hayan sufrido hace poco un infarto o accidentes cardiovascular, o pacientes que tiene problemas psicológicos importantes, etc., en estos casos si será conveniente escoger el momento más oportuno. Conclusión Diré que la gente que se somete a tratamientos con implantes, son pacientes de una determinada edad y que es frecuente que tomen alguna medicación para una o varias cosas, por lo que piensan que ya no son candidatos. Por eso les animo a que vengan a visitarnos a nuestra clínica, ya que les realizamos una historia clínica completa para valorar todo esto y tratar de buscarles la mejor solución de una forma individualizada. Que no tengan miedo, que esto está avanzando a pasos agigantados y lo que años atrás se consideraban problemas gracias a dios hoy se soluciona y de una manera sencilla. Y que precisamente si mejora su salud oral, muchas de esas enfermedades que tienen van a mejorar porque así lo demuestran numerosos estudios realizados.
