In this episode Dr Furman discusses chronic inflammation and how it differs from acute inflammation. Dr. David Furman is the Director of the Stanford 1000 Immunomes Project, Chief of the Center for AI and Data Science of Aging at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, and a Adjunct Investigator for The National Scientific and Research Council, Austral University, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Dr. Furman received his Ph.D. (summa cum laude) from University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, for his work on the identification of factors produced by tumors that enable cancer cells to escape immune attack. During his postdoctoral training at the Stanford School of Medicine, Dr. Furman focused on the application of advanced analytics to study the aging of the immune system in humans and decipher how cumulative inflammatory responses associated with aging lead to an accelerated cardiovascular aging. Dr. Furman has published dozens of scientific articles in top-tier journals such as Cell, Nature Medicine, PNAS, The Lancet, and others.
