Inflation, and incredibility

Eurozone flash consumer price inflation for August is due, after yesterday’s German data was in line with expectations and the Spanish numbers were lower than expected. We still lack any detail in the numbers today - and that is what markets need. Investors want to see inflation coming down in areas where central banks have control, without those prices falling so rapidly as to signal a major growth problem.
