Inheriting the Promise & The Ascension of the King: Joshua 13–14 and Luke 24 (Day 118)

What does it look like to receive what God has promised? Today in Joshua, the season of war transitions into a season of inheritance. Even as Joshua grows old, God instructs him to divide the land among the tribes, and we see the legendary Caleb—now 85 years old—claim his mountain with the same fire and faith he had forty years prior. In the Gospel of Luke, we reach a stunning conclusion. Jesus appears to His disciples, proves His physical resurrection by eating before them, opens their minds to understand the Scriptures, and finally ascends into heaven, leaving them with great joy and the promise of the Holy Spirit.Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 13–14 – God outlines the land that remains to be conquered but commands the division of the inheritance for the nine and a half tribes. We see the specific territory given to the tribes east of the Jordan and the inspiring request of Caleb, who asks for the difficult hill country of Hebron, trusting God today just as he did at Kadesh-barnea.📖 Luke 24:36–53 – Jesus stands in the midst of the terrified disciples, showing His wounds and eating broiled fish to prove He is not a ghost. He commissions them as witnesses to all nations and leads them out to Bethany. As He blesses them, He is carried up into heaven, and they return to Jerusalem with hearts full of worship.📖 Psalm 52:1–9 – A contemplation of David regarding the wicked who trust in riches and tongues that devise destruction. He contrasts them with the righteous: "But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God.
