Inquiry vs. Curiosity
from Falling Gently Podcast · host Falling Gently
Aren’t you just the sweetest beingBearing with me as I reflect and contemplateExploring how the mystical wisdom lives and movesWithin fractured and often unsatisfying circumstancesThank you ❤️I’m switching gears todayYou see, I’ve been so careful trying not to bypassI’ve perhaps overindulged my inquiryAnd underutilized my orientation of curiosityThere’s a difference, at least how I’m feeling itInquiry is wanting to know why and get to an answerCuriosity is wanting to explore, discover and perhaps createSo, I’m not sure if my biorhythms have shiftedOr my true devotion to life as it emerges is finally willing to accept how it is emergingI’m switching gears. My situation was impossible 5 months agoAnd is almost the same amount of impossible todayMakes me realize I need to shift my definition of impossibleI’ve read dozens of articles about exactly my predicament happening all over the country and the worldSo, rather than inquire and philosophize and lamentI think I’m going to start to look at the advantagesI’ve talked about the difficulties quite enoughAnd while they still may come up, they’re not the contextThe context is discovery, re-creation and possibilityI want to appreciate what this moment offers meTara Brach: Happiness lies not in finding what is missing, but in finding what is presentRight now, I’m appreciating that I didn’t have to take a day off work to get my tooth fixedAnd that I’m available to help offer my full self to help my daughter find a jobAnd that stupid expensive job search program can maybe offer some value for herI am available to care for my aging dog, who is out of sorts when I’m not homeI’ve had time to be there for friendsThese are not small thingsI want to do more of them, and maybe let that lead me to my next stepInstead of the idea of where I should be that I’m not, and an inquiry about how to get thereMy current optimism may ebb and flowBut this context of becoming has been there all alongI just want to lift the veil of my circumstances’ improprietyAnd get back to the serious business of accepting life as it isWith curiosity and trustAnd the truly meaningful support of friends, family and communityBecause we need each other, there’s no question about itAnd we have each otherAnd that is no small thing.
