Charles Ardai is an entrepreneur, writer, editor and producer. He is the founder of the early internet service Juno and of Hard Case Crime, a line of pulp-style crime novels by authors ranging from Stephen King, Michael Crichton and Gore Vidal to Cornell Woolrich CC 1925 and Brian De Palma ’62. Ardai himself is the author of five novels, among them the 2007 Shamus Award-winning Songs of Innocence, set partly on the Columbia campus and which The Washington Post called “an instant classic.” In addition to the Shamus, he has also received the Edgar Allan Poe Award and the Ellery Queen Award for mystery writing.
