On today's show..... A fixture of the radio and television business for the past 17 years, David Shimkus Host is best known for his sales on the Home Shopping Network as both a host and a guest. With over 7000 hours of on-air sales experience and years behind the microphone in voice-over work and sports radio in Chicago, Dave is like an old friend. Dave started in the radio and television business in 1993 as the sports director at WSIU-FM in Carbondale, Illinois where he earned his bachelor’s degree in radio and television from Southern Illinois University. Dave also was a sportscaster on the nightly news at WSIU-TV and created and hosted the show SIU Sports Weekly. After completing his degree, Dave moved back to his hometown of Chicago where he worked for the Illinois Radio Network and WSCR Sports Radio as a sports reporter. In 1997, Dave made a move to the Tampa Bay area and signed on as a full-time host on The Home Shopping Network where he co-hosted the SUNRISE show. The SUNRISE show had its most successful hours ever while Dave was a host and HSN reached 70 million homes across the nation. Three Super Bowls, the John Glenn Space Shuttle Launch, The NBA Store in New York City, and The Florida State Fair were just a few of the prime shows that Dave hosted along with a trip to Ireland for the Treasures of Ireland show. Currently Dave is the President of On Air Image, Inc. where he is responsible for sourcing and presenting products on national television as well as training aspiring hosts. He has been a regularly featured guest on HSN with the prestigious Dyson vacuum cleaner line, Your Baby Can Read on TSC Canada and has begun to share his secrets of looking and feeling great after 40 with the Workout 180 and Ab Radical fitness products. Dave has also served his country and his community. He was a Non-Commissioned Officer in the UnitedStatesMarineCorps and for the past 7 years served as a city commissioner and vice mayor in his city. He has also been involved with many charities over the years to include The Junior League of Tampa, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The SPCA of Tampa Bay, Habitat for Humanity and the American Cancer Society.
