Steven was raised in a secular family. His grandfather who was a Seventh-day Adventist Christian, made a request for his grandchildren to attend church and Steven's parents obliged to have some church people bring Steven to church at age 7. Steven decided to stop attending church at age 13. His parents had split up, he started drinking alcohol but never totally abandoned God.
