His Dad actively shared with him the things he was learning about God, but Rob rebelled against it in order to look "cool" among his friends. Driven by peer pressure, Rob continued on this rebellious path for many years. One day, Rob experienced something that completely shook him up to the core. Suddenly he realised that the things his Dad had shared with him must be true. He could not dismiss these convictions despite trying to. How did Rob respond to these convictions? He went to an Adventist school and attended church regularly. He embraced and enjoyed all the opportunities he had to grow spiritually in his home life, church and school. But there came a pivotal point in his early teen years - when young people face so many changes and challenges - that he had to make a choice. What would he do with his life? Would he stay with the faith he was raised in or would he try something else? Was it worth laying aside his Christian way of life for a few years or not? If he was to stay with the faith he was raised in, how was he going to make this faith his own and not just what his parents believe and practice? Jaiden wrestled with these questions for many months until one memorable day when he made his decision. Which path did he choose? Rod grew up in inland Queensland and was the eldest of six children. With a family environment that was devoutly Catholic, Rod grew up with an awareness of God in his life which he deeply appreciated. He loved God and religious studies was his favourite subject in school. He had a strong sense of loyalty to his religion. As a young adult, he started dating a girl who was a Seventh-day Adventist. This was nice but also challenging since he thought that if he was to marry her, she would have to become Catholic. This was important for his religious convictions and family honour. He told her this and she said that if he could show her through the Bible that his religion was completely harmonious with the truth, she would become Catholic. This experience sparked a journey of discovery for Rod as he studied the Bible to find answers to his questions. He learned many things that really shook his religious worldview. It was a very unsettling time as he learned that what the Bible really teaches didn't line up with everything he thought was true. He became convinced that the biblical understandings of Seventh-day Adventists were truly consistent with the Bible and God confirmed this to him in compelling ways. Despite agreeing with the biblical teachings of the Seventh-day church, Rod didn't immediately join the faith. Something distracted his focus and led him away from the church for many years. God didn't give up on Rod though and led him through a journey of unexpected experiences and providences. Scott grew up in Bundaberg, the coastal Queensland town renown for its ginger beer, which is an Australian favourite. His upbringing was typical for secular Australians until one day when his mother and father became Christians. They changed so much that he thought they had gone crazy.   He learned about God through his parents' conversion and had some wonderful experiences with lovely Christians at church, but he was also doing things that were out of harmony with his parents' new faith. Soon his mother told him he would need to change his behaviour if he was to stay at home. Instead of doing this, he chose to leave. He was 14 years old and went to live with a friend.    For the next 10 years or so, his was a journey of drug-dealing, dodging the police and going in and out of prison. God continued to reach out to him during this time as family and friends prayed for him. One day while in prison, he picked up a book that changed his life. Jeramie was born to Seventh-day Adventist parents in the Philippines. From the day she was born her parents prayed that she would be a singing missionary for Jesus. Her parents could sing and they taught her to sing from a very young age. God honoured their prayers and blessed Jeramie with a beautiful strong, soloist voice. Jeramie used her gift of singing as a missionary even as a young teenager. Yet despite being surrounded with mission and faith, she struggled with a mindset of earning approval from God through doing good things. This made her spiritual life very burdensome. Through a family crisis, God revealed His care for Jeramie and her family, and transformed her relationship with Him to one that is full of love and peace. After this, Jeramie had another experience that helped her faith grow. Her father challenged her to join a national singing competition with the idea of looking for opportunities to witness for her faith. She joined the competition and excelled in it. But what would she do when the competition required her to sing on Sabbath? Would she stand by her convictions or compromise to secure fame and fortune? Beau grew up in Western Sydney with a picture of God that was distressing. He understood God to be distant, stern, harsh and cruel – that God somehow enjoyed torturing people in hell. In early high school, a friend showed him a different picture of God – a God that went out of His way to help people and bring them salvation. Despite this new and attractive picture of God in his mind, Beau followed a life that was rebelling and running from Him. As a result, he went through a roller coaster life of drugs, alcohol, depression, overdosing and prison. Beau finally came to a crossroad when his health was in crisis and he realised either he could keep going and die alone or follow a new path with God. Kate was brought up in a Christian home. She learned how to have daily devotions at a young age and enjoyed attending a church Bible study class on Sabbath mornings, both of which were instrumental in her decision to follow God. Unfortunately, her dad was diagnosed with cancer and died when she was a teenager. Following this, Kate spiralled into depression. At the same time, spiritually, she found herself doing things because she ought to, not because she wanted to. What did Kate find helpful in coping with her negative emotions? As a young girl, Lena went to church with her mother in South Korea. But she stopped going to church at age 12 and absorbed herself in secular activities and education. As a University student, she went travelling and studied overseas. Her career direction went from English language and literature to dentistry to nursing to medicine. Julie grew up in South Africa in a Christian home, but shortly after she was born her dad stopped attending church. Growing up, television had some negative influences in her life, she also struggled with trying to fit in with the other school kids. Daniel Collier was a typical young man, raised in a good home where his parentssought to bring him up well. He attended church for Easter, Christmas andfunerals, but apart from that wasn’t particularly interested in religion. He was a bright child and did well scholastically. As a result people expected he would get a good job and earn lots of money. He worked in retail selling games, but that didn’t satisfy him. Then he transferred to the police force in an endeavour to help people. However, he kept seeing repeat offenders that didn’t want his help. He thought what am I doing here? He began questioning things. He thought there has to be more to this existence than to live, to die, and become worm food. He thought about the purpose of life and also about the after life. A thirst to know what the Bible had to say was developing in Daniel. He did some Bible studies with Jehovah’s Witnesses that came to his door, but he couldn’t accepteverything they taught as it didn’t always line up with the Bible. One day aperson came to his door selling Christian books. Daniel shared with him hisinterest to understand the Bible and started weekly Bible studies the followingweek. He loved what he was learning, he continued to grow spiritually andcommitted his life to God in baptism. Listen to his journey!

Pr John and Angela have been married for 36 years and travelled to many countries around the world. Though raised in the church, John was not interested in God when he was young. How did God reach him? Hear their story of how God brought them on the twisting, turning journey from New York to the cornfields of southern Illinois. John says his life went from tragedy to triumph. He was born to a Mum and Dad that weren’t married and at three months of age, he and older sister were left in the home of the baby sitter. She was a Seventh-day Adventist. John’s parents never came back for them. John has written an autobiography “Abandoned, but Not Alone.” (9:10) Angela’s upbringing was quite different to John’s. Have a listen!

Greg Morikone shares snippets of his life story, from childhood through to his position at the time as General Vice President at 3ABN, and how it has shaped his life. Being home-schooled and raised in a Christian home in the country, Greg learned and developed many skills including business, as he would work in the garden and sell produce on the roadside at an early age.  Greg loved going with his family to visit sick neighbours, singing and caring for them.  After attending a Revelation Seminar, Greg committed his life to God in baptism at the age of 12. However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for his spiritual walk. While attending a Christian university, he saw double standards and told his Dad that he wanted to give up on God. Greg remembers his dad’s good advice, don’t look to man, we are human and make mistakes. Look to God, He will never fail you or disappoint you. Don’t get discouraged with the church, look to Jesus who is the author and finisher of your faith.  At Greg’s first meal at university he met his wife and the thought entered his mind, I will marry this lady. From a rubbish dump to a pulpit. That is the amazing story of Leeboy Tobias from Port Moresby. Helped by Dennis Perry’s Operation Food For Life, God has worked an amazing transformation in this young man’s life. Hear him tell his story.

Born in Nigeria to Lebanese parents who wanted to give him a good education, they sent Raymond to a Jesuit boarding school in Lebanon at the age of 5. While there he had to go to confession. One day following confession as he walked away he remembered an unconfessed sin. What should he do? He decided not to go back and confess his sin. The next day he went to church wearing a tuxedo with a clean, white shirt, but spiritually he felt so filthy.  When Ray returned home from boarding school, his Mum was driving past a protestant church, he asked his Mum, “What is the difference between our church and their church?” She said, “The difference is they confess their sins directly to God, but we confess them to the priest”. I thought to myself, “That is so much better.” I wondered why we had to go through a priest.  Ray lost his spiritual interest in God. However, God did not lose interest in Ray. Listen to Ray’s story and hear how God was trying to reveal Himself to Ray throughout his life. As is common to humanity, when faced with ill health, Ray found God’s love by reading the book of John in the Bible. His heart was touched and he responded to the Holy Spirit. He continued his love for the Bible, reading it morning and evening and he has continued to grow in understanding God’s Word. He sees the Sabbath is a special day that we can spend time with God.

Helen Hall is a dedicated teacher serving as a volunteer administrator at a school in a refugee camp in Thailand. She has been there about 36 years. The school is large with about 900 students and 50 teachers. She tells of the adventures, dangers and rewards of such work. Originally Helen took a one year leave of absence from teaching in Australia to go teach in Thailand, but she never returned to work in Australia again. Although she doesn’t have the luxuries of a western lifestyle she feels she has not given up a thing! She feels God has given her freedom to work overseas. She is not planning on retiring or she would get bored. She said she has celebrated her 80th birthday. Helen’s goal is to train future leaders and by the way, she still has a full teaching load!

Nicolene’s book entitled “Creation by God or evolution by nothing” is aimed at the 12 to 112 years of age reader. Listen as Nicolene discusses Science Defined, The Big Bang, Dinosaurs and so much more. Nicolene is part-time specialist lecturer in Nature Conservation at UNISA (University of South Africa) Department of Environmental Sciences. She holds a master’s degree in Plant Ecology and Management. How did Nicolene’s research into religion end up with the book on Creation? As a member of a congregation of some 7,000 people (Dutch Reform, Presbyterian), Nicolene whilst listening to DVD’s (God’s Final Call) began plying her pastors with questions. They encouraged her to research the questions. This exciting journey culminated with Nicolene and her family changing their faith. Then hearing what her children were being taught about Evolution vs Creation spurred Nicolene to dig deeper. “One hypothesis shapes another hypothesis. “Taste, Observe, Repeat.” What does this mean? “How on earth did everything fit into the ark? If two dogs went in, why so many species?“ All becomes clear as you join Nicolene in this in-depth interview.

Growing up Jasper was addicted to video games. However, his life took a change of direction when he found Jesus and fell in love with God’s Word. He found true satisfaction by ministering to others whether it was giving Bible studies, preaching, conducting health programs, and more recently media ministry. Incredibly the reading of Luke 19:10 “He that is faithful in that which is least, is faithful also in much”. Luke 16:10 significantly impacted Jasper’s career. Born into a Christian family in Zimbabwe, Ruth and family were strongly involved in their local church. Wanting to give Ruth a good education they migrated to Australia to a country town. It was exciting moving to Australia, the land of Skippy the kangaroo, but her spiritual beliefs and habits would be challenged. There were no youth in her new church and she desired friendship of other young people. Her spiritual habits were guided by her parent’s beliefs, they were not her own. Ruth is grateful that her parents explained from the Bible why they held the beliefs they did and encouraged her to follow God. When Ruth moved out of home to attend university her wings were no longer clipped. What would she do? While attending a friend’s party she looked around and then left. This started her life in a different direction. She switched from secular university to Avondale College and later she attended an intense Bible course. That had a huge impact on her life. Now she says, it is my faith and no longer my parents’ faith, which is really amazing!

For anyone living with or struggling with eating disorders, depression and anxiety, this interview is for you. As a child, Diane struggled with longings to be comforted and to feel loved. PTSD plagued her life. Dad’s upbringing had been fraught with violence. Mum kept family issues a secret, so negative issues were never discussed. Even though dad was a non-drinker, after getting work in a bar, he became an alcoholic. The one positive in Diane’s childhood was that dad took them to church. Happy times only occurred at Christmas. The death of both parents drove Diane further down the spiral of eating disorders, depression and anxiety. Did Diane ever find the peace and love she craved? In her testimony, Diane relates how she heard a TV program by Steve Wohlberg. Her walk with Jesus began. As you listen to Diane’s testimony you will marvel at how God is always there to pick up the pieces and show us a new and trusting faith in Him.

As a child Marleta wanted to sing. Her efforts were not encouraged, she was told she wasn’t really singing but elongating words. Not one to give up easily, Marleta sang in groups at church and in the choir. In 2011, at 21 years of age the opportunity to sing solo came. The chosen singer for the youth program was unable to attend. Marleta was invited to fill in. She sang the Celtic version of “When I survey The Wondrous Cross” with acoustics. God had opened the door. She says “ My prayer to sing for God finally came true”. Her sister Charissa, a dynamic preacher and Marleta sing together and at times are joined by their pianist as a trio. They have performed overseas and travel extensively all over Australia and Sydney sharing the Gospel through preaching and music. You will be blessed to hear Marleta singing some of her favourites during this interview. Her reason for choosing her songs is a powerful testimony in itself.
