Nel periodo della pandemia la giovane violinista Ada Witczyk ha avuto l’idea di creare un concorso di composizione nel nome di Zuzana Růžičková, la celebre clavicembalista ceca sopravvissuta ai campi di concentramento.L’artista, scomparsa all’età di novant’anni nel 2017, nel corso della sua carriera spinse il marito compositore Viktor Kalabis a scrivere musica per il suo strumento, seguito da altri compositori che le dedicarono le proprie musiche rinnovando e arricchendo il repertorio cembalistico moderno.Il premio della competizione è intitolato a Viktor Kalabis, e il numero dei vincitori è variato nel corso di questi anni, ma nella edizione 2024 hanno partecipato cinquanta compositori, e data l’alta qualità delle opere ricevute ne sono state scelte sei, successivamente registrate da Ada Witczyk accompagnata al clavicembalo da Dominika Maszczyńska e, in tre dei sei brani, dal secondo violino di Simon Standage:Raphael Amadio Fusco (1984) Sonata for Baroque Violin and HarpsichordSalvatore Passantino (1992) OstinationAndrew Wilson (1960) Vanbrugh Sonata: II. The Summer FollyDavid Jason Snow (1954) L’apothéose de Tati FabricioMaximiliano Gatta (1971) Suite for Violin and HarpsichordAlexander Unseth (2002) One of SevenIn questa intervista la violinista racconta come è nata l’idea del concorso e descrive brevemente la varietà delle opere presenti nel disco, sottolineando le caratteristiche sonore del violino barocco che ha ispirato compositori di diverse nazionalità e di differenti generazioni a scrivere nuova musica per lo strumento storico.Qui un videoProduzione e montaggio: Paolo Scarnecchia
