Il potere della musica ovvero l’arte dell’ascolto a Styriarte  Il festival di musica antica Styriarte di Graz è stato inaugurato il 21 giugno da un concerto dell’orchestra barocca Zefiro e del Coro Arnold Schoenberg diretti da Alfredo Bernardini che si è svolto nella Helmut List Halle. L’evento è stato molto  importante non solo per la scelta di eseguire l’oratorio Alexander’s Feast or The Power of Music di Handel, che ha ispirato tutta la programmazione del festival con il motto “Die Macht der Musik” (Il potere della musica), ma anche per il fatto che l’auditorium di questa ex-fabbrica riconvertita in centro polifunzionale è nato con l’intento di riportare a Graz il pioniere del cosiddetto movimento della Early Music, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, cresciuto nella città della Styria.  Come ha spiegato il direttore artistico del Festival, Mathis Huber, Harnoncourt che aveva avuto a sua disposizione i migliori teatri musicali europei, era alla ricerca di uno spazio diverso nel quale far risuonare la musica, e si innamorò dell’acustica di questa gigantesco “scatolone” versatile e privo di palcoscenico, iniziando a collaborare con il Festival, ed è proprio con l’Alexander’s Feast da lui diretto che ventuno anni fa venne inaugurata la Helmut List Halle che è uno dei luoghi principali dei numerosi concerti di Styriarte. Alfredo Bernardini collabora con questo Festival da diversi anni e lo racconta in questa intervista, sottolineando come l’ode a Santa Cecilia di Dryden messa in musica da Handel sia stata importante nella carriera del musicista sassone, che dopo la sua lunga esperienza di operista con libretti in italiano, si dedicò alla creazione di oratori in lingua inglese, e l’Alexander’s Feast è un magnifico esempio di questa transizione.  Paolo Scarnecchia
