Intimate Evening with... Annie
from Sunday Edition with Anthony Corona
Sunday Edition PresentsIntimate Evening with Annie Recorded Monday Evening, May 4 What began as an evening of music and conversation quickly unfolded into something even more meaningful, a heartfelt gathering centered around faith, resilience, responsibility, storytelling, humor, and the beauty of finding your voice in a complicated world. Anthony welcomed classically trained soprano, storyteller, actor, comedian, educator, and audiobook narrator Annie Donnellon for a deeply personal and emotionally rich conversation about her journey through blindness, music, spirituality, performance, and life itself. Throughout the evening Annie shared reflections on growing up blind in Cincinnati, her relationship with sacred music, and the ways humor, faith, creativity, and perseverance helped shape her path both personally and professionally. The conversation moved naturally between laughter, vulnerability, music, and meaningful reflection, creating the kind of atmosphere that has become the heart of the Intimate Evening with… series. Listeners were also treated to a beautiful surprise appearance from author Cheryl McNeil Fisher, whose book Apple Batter Up Annie recently narrated in audiobook form. Cheryl joined the conversation live to discuss the collaboration, storytelling, and the power of authentic voice in audiobook narration and disability representation. One of the most moving moments of the evening came when Annie performed a stunning rendition of “How Great Thou Art,” one of Anthony’s favorite hymns. The performance brought an emotional stillness to the room and perfectly captured the spirit of the evening: connection, gratitude, artistry, and heart. Additional conversation topics included:Life as an audiobook narratorThe emotional responsibility of storytellingNavigating blindness in creative spacesBalancing faith, artistry, and personal identityThe role of music in healing and connectionFinding joy and humor while carrying responsibilityThe importance of authentic representation and inclusive storytelling This episode is more than an interview. It is an evening of shared humanity, thoughtful conversation, laughter, spirituality, and music that reminds us how powerful voice can truly be.
