Introducing The Wildcards DnD Podcast - Episode Zero

The Wildcards (our level 12 #DnD party) have been dealt a very bad hand...We pick up our game well into the adventure (56 actual games played in real life) where The Wildcards have been on a losing streak. Since being brought together by fate the party has been fighting against a cult of Asmodeus, The Revenant Vow, who wish to break four seals and unleash hell onto Vesaria, the continent they call home, and the material plane.The Vow have been successful unleashing two seals already and now The Wildcards have travelled to the Abyss, to try and stop the cult from retrieving an ancient evil relic, The Blackstaff. That was until the cult revealed they'd kidnapped beloved friends of the party and were holding them hostage in exchange for the staff.Trapped in a no win scenario The Wildcards fought through a terrifying dungeon and came across the wielder of The Blackstaff, The Lich King, Kar'Val. In the fight against the undead necromancer he killed the party's cleric, Niavere after she risked her life to save the party's rogue, Hando (who secretly harboured feelings for her). On their last breaths The Wildcards managed to defeat Kar'Val but were devastated at their loss. As they looted the necromancer's vault to find the evil relic they uncovered several powerful items including...The infamous Blackstaff A Vile Crown that Kar'Val wore A mysterious Gate Gem Apparatus A Book of Vile Darkness (that their secretly demon worshipping warlock Gord secreted away) An Infernal puzzle box A shadowy dagger Whisper (yes that Whisper) And a magic dispelling longsword Mage's BaneOn a race against time to free their friends from the cult they were unable to find The Lich King's soul reliquary and abandoned the search to exit the temple. They exchanged the Blackstaff for the lives of their friends, only to uncover that one of those very hostages, their most powerful ally, the wizard Raymond Boralis, had betrayed them and joined forces with The Revenant Vow. Now wielding the evil staff, Raymond honoured the agreement of their deal and let them leave with their lives.Devastated, The Wildcards escaped the abyss and found themselves back on the material plane. They'd been transported to The Platinum Sanctuary, a legendary hall of heroes thought lost to history for centuries. Our game picks off just after having laid Niavere to rest upon a funeral pyre at sunset.
