The Deputy Director for Investigations at IPID in KwaZulu-Natal Len John, says there is evidence of links between some police officers, tow-truck operators and the drug trade. Testifying before the Madlanga Commission, John alleges that some tow trucks are used to transport drugs and receive preferential treatment at roadblocks.  The commission has today shifted its focus to alleged hit squads operating in KwaZulu-Natal and consisting of members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) who allegedly commit extra-judicial killings. .
