Irish Cancer Society - The Ability Show 26/02/26

from Ros FM 94.6 · host ROS FM

Volunteer Drivers needed in the Castlerea and Strokestown areas. Local man, Frank Durkin is a volunteer driver with the Irish Cancer Society, and he joins Adrianne in the studio to talk about what is involved in driving for the Irish Cancer Society and how to become a volunteer driver. Cancer patients often find it hard to get to the hospital because of transportation costs, or they might not be feeling well enough to drive themselves because of their treatment so volunteer drivers make this easier by providing a free lift to and from their chemotherapy appointments. It involves a minimum of 2 hours a month and drivers can claim mileage and any other out of pocket expenses.
