Irish Kidney Association - The Ability Show 04/06/26

from Ros FM 94.6 · host ROS FM

Donor Awareness Week was from the 16th to 23rd May this year, but we should all be aware of our own kidney function all year round and carry a donor card everywhere we go. Adrianne chats with Colin White, the National Advocacy Manager with the Irish Kidney Association about kidney disease, the donation of organs, and the importance of people becoming donors. They also discuss the various services that the IKA provide including family and peer support groups, holiday homes and their support centres situated at Beaumont Hospital (the National Centre for Renal Transplantation) and Cork University Hospital, which offer ensuite rooms and kitchen facilities for people coming for dialysis or follow up appointments. They rely on the public’s generosity to help them provide these services so if you wish to donate then please go to www.ika.ie or to sign up for a donor card then click on www.ika.ie/donorcard

Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Frag Big Moes Mama 98.8 KISS FM Big Moes Mama ist genauso crazy wie ihr Sohn und ab sofort part of the podcast family!
