The implication of such a statement is that comfort zones are negative in some way. Or that nothing good can come out of dwelling in such a state. But is this one of those blanket statements that we throw around so easily without stopping to think a little more about what we are saying? Surprisingly, if we do, there are a few insights to unpack. Some quite positive, suggesting that being in your comfort zone is not really that bad. Well, that depends, doesn't it? Mainly on how much time you spend in there and how you manage it. Context is often everything. The real enemy is laziness - or probably better identified as slothfulness. Which you may remember is one of the seven deadly sins. Number four, in fact. So maybe it's time to drop the negative connotations of comfort zones and come up with a catch-cry about being a sloth.
