Humans will feel secure as long as the long-suffering and compassionate God remains in heaven, aloof and removed from the day-to-day, but when he stands and begins to step down from his throne to tread upon the very portions of creation that cause humanity to be in awe, a deep and ferocious terror will grip them and the clear reality and gravitas of the holy moment will strip them of any vestige of internal fortitude. They, too, will melt like wax and, in some sense, run down the hill like water gushing from a cistern.
