Is the Mass a sacrifice?

The Catholic Church teaches that the Mass is a sacrifice. But some people question whether this is true and ask where in the Bible, and indeed, if the early Christians really believed the Mass to be a sacrifice. Canon David Gibbons explains that by participating in the Mass, the priest offers Christ to the Father, and you also offer yourselves, your service, and your faith. This makes the sacrifice the primary meaning of the Mass.
