With the ongoing government shutdown, the massive layoffs within the Department of Education, the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), and the Office of Special Education Rehabilitation Services (OSERS) are virtually non-existent. This is still part of the ongoing efforts of the Trump administration to bring about the complete destruction of the Dept. of Education in an effort to bring the choice (and funding) back to the states. What this means to parents of students with disabilities is that there is currently NO federal oversight happening to ensure your child's rights are being upheld.
