On an October night in 2022, 21-year-old Grace Jennings was killed with a sword inside a Santa Fe garage. The woman who wielded the blade — Kiara McCulley — has already pleaded guilty. But her boyfriend, Isaac Apodaca, never touched it. Prosecutors argued he didn't need to: he'd convinced 19-year-old Kiara they were part of a secret society that hunted down "bad people," and that killing Grace was how she'd earn her place.
