Isaiah 54:17

This verse is one of the most powerful in the Bible. Did you know that Isaiah 54:17 says that no weapon formed against you shall prosper? All weapons, no matter their size, shape, impact, spiritual or natural come from two places. Of course we know that their inception is always from the enemy, but exactly how does a weapon form against us in the first place? The answer to that is found in in Proverbs 18:21 which states that death and life are in the power of the tongue. That means that every weapon formed against us formed by way of words. Isaiah 54:17 bears this out as well when it says that “every tongue that has risen up in judgment against you, you shall condemn.” Weapons form because of words. They can be words others have spoken over us or words we have spoken over ourselves. They can be words spoken over us by our ancestors as well! Don’t believe me? The Jewish leaders, when asked by Pilate if they wanted Jesus or Barabbas released to them told Pilate to crucify the Lord of glory and then said “His blood be upon us and upon our children” {Matthew 27:25}. We know from World War two alone that the devil made sure that a weapon was leveled against the Jews because of those damning words. The good news is though that we have Jesus Christ. Because we do, Isaiah 54:17 assures us that we have the authority to condemn every word that has come against us.
