Isolation of Change w/ Kylie Hammel

from Cultivation Podcast · host Tom Hammel

3 IMPORTANT Takeaways   Change can be lonely, but you can use that time to work on yourself. Change can prove a lot about you to yourself. Change brings anxiety at first but a lot of freedom afterwards.   We're continuing Season 7 of the Cultivation Podcast, the season of change, and are joined by a special guest…My daughter! Kylie Hammel joins us to talk about her own change.   Kylie will discuss the isolation of COVID, no community, and no comfort of going back to her old community, and how that forced her to embrace that time alone and work on herself, set goals and plan for the future.   As a high school senior, she had her year upended by the COVID-19 pandemic. From dealing with all the senior traditions being ripped away to working through that change and embracing it through a year spent at home during the pandemic before refocusing to study abroad in England at the University of Chester.   She talks about navigating travel and living in a foreign country, and how she learned to build her own community. Then she was surprised to learn her family is changing themselves by moving out of her childhood home.   But that initial season of change revealed a lot about herself in terms of perseverance, overcoming adversity, and pride in achieving goals.   There's a lesson that the anxiety of change up front is offset by the freedom of making change happen. Don't get paralyzed by that anxiety so you can achieve the freedom of that decision on the back end.   Kylie's story shows that change causes some of the most profound loneliness in your life - whether it's moving, a new job, or a new school - and that change is unique to you. But you can work through it and create your own community.    We want to hear your season of change: Message, comment and engage with us on YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
