It is a wrap, 2023

from Die ekonomie minuut · host Waldo Krugell

Commentators often say that the economy is at a crossroads, whether it is about load shedding or next year’s general election. Maybe this time it's more like a T-junction. There is no path on which we can "muddle through". Important and difficult choices must be made. But before I talk any more about that the Economics Minute is going on vacation. Many thanks to everyone who has listened along so far. A daily broadcast does not always happen easily and I want to say a special thank you to Christine for her input and patience with the Minute throughout the year. Many thanks also to the NWU Business School for their support along with the episode sponsors that contributed throughout the year. The episode notes provide a more complete list of acknowledgements for all who use and support the Minute. Best wishes for the new year everyone.   Acknowledgements I am grateful for the financial support from the NWU Business School. Thanks to Johan van Zyl of Jake Media who helps to share the podcast on the Business School networks. Thanks also for support from the Bureau of Economic Research, Economic Research Southern Africa and Jenwil financial services. The Minute is also broadcasted and I am glad it is being used in this way. Thanks to Hannes Snyman at Radio Orania and Nadine Watkins at Bizscoops. For a while the Minute was also on Maroela Media thanks to Monica Mynhardt. It also leads to other interviews. Thanks to Olebogeng Motse and Dane Beisheim at OFM, James Kemp at Pretoria FM, Corn Koteli at Jacaranda, all the student journo’s at Voice of Wits, and Suzanne Paxton at RSG. I even made a few eNews TV appearances this year thanks to Daniella van Heerden and Melissa Tighy. The Minute was also a springboard to other audiences and it's nice to chat with them frequently. Thanks to Leonard Haasbroek and Hemari Bonthuis at the PPS Academy. And then I am grateful for everyone who likes and shares the Minute. It is a family and friends effort, but there are also loyal supporters who let me know when they enjoyed an episode. Thanks to everyone who listened along this year.
