It's In Our Weakness That We Gain Strength

from Sunday Homilies with the Redemptorists · host Novena Church

Today's Gospel raises the question: Who is Jesus? He was rejected in his hometown of Nazareth where people saw him as a lowly carpenter, a kampong boy in spite of all the miracles he's performed. Fr Glenn related the story of a man he met in Lourdes. He had multiple vices including drugs, and during a visit to the shrine with his family, he felt an overwhelming sense of mercy and compassion, and that transformed his life where he became a priest. The man cited the moment where it was in his weakness that he gained strength. Likewise for us, when we are rejected -- in the office, in the family, in school, and even in the church -- always keep the faith that when we are weak, we become strong in Christ. -Sunday Homily by Fr. Glenn De Cruz, C.Ss.R. (7 July 2024)
