It's "Scary/Hard" In The Beginning, But Then It Gets Amazing!

from The Stop Drinking Coach · host Bardia Rezaei

As we approach this journey, every single one of us feels fear, stress and discomfort. We feel frozen by the thought of "how am I NEVER going to drink again!?" This is very normal. Everyone experiences it. You're not alone. The "secret key" for this entire process to be successful is taking it one day a time.  Do not overwhelm yourself by imagining a future without alcohol. This is the wrong way to think about it. The only thing that you should be focused on is doing your absolute best, today. That's how I hit 2 years sober last week. By stacking a bunch of "1 days." That's the key. That's the secret. When you've been taking drug for years and years that has woven itself into the fabric of your lifestyle, routines and social interactions - the idea of letting it go feels scary. I get it.  Especially because it gives you that rush of dopamine that makes you feel like you can temporarily disconnect from all the chaos in your life. What you need to remember here is that this process is front loaded with a little discomfort, maybe some boredom for the first couple weeks - but then after that...it becomes AMAZING. Dopamine levels come back (so everything doesn't seem dull or boring) Brain fog lifts. Cognitive function improves SIGNIFICANTLY. You wake up full of energy, clear and rested Anxiety, depression, self-doubt and double mindedness goes away You gain back tons of time back to invest in relationships, personal growth, productivity, hobbies and interests you once enjoyed No more crazy high's and lows Relationships get way better You save thousands of dollars per year! I could go on for hours. The discomfort you feel in the beginning is NOT how you're going to feel the rest of your life. The mind and body just needs to go through a period of discomfort in order to rebalance itself back into homeostasis and harmony. Are you willing to endure a few days or a couple weeks of a little discomfort or some very temporary boredom to GAIN EVERYTHING BACK in your life? -- If you received value from my podcast, please subscribe and leave a 5 star review.
