"Care For Caregivers" is a new podcast hosted by award winning author and speaker, Kathi Koll. Kathi became a full-time family caregiver to her husband Don after a catastrophic stroke in 2005 left him completely paralyzed from the neck down. Doctors said he would only live for 24 hours, but he went on to live for another six and a half years. Forced to live on a respirator, Kathi cared for Don, making sure his life was filled with love and compassion, right up until his passing in 2011. During her time as a caregiver, Kathi experienced the full spectrum of emotional and practical challenges that many full-time family caregivers face. From learning how to resume a joy-filled life, to figuring out the logistics of how to even find joy under such circumstances, Kathi pressed on, determined to make the best of their "new normal". During her podcasts, Kathi will share with listeners her wisdom and insight in an effort to help others who find themselves suddenly thrust into the role of caregiver.
