Jerry Warden | DFW Metal History, Warlock Texas & The Heavy Metal Hall of Fame | The Zach Moonshine Show

Long before Pantera conquered the world, before the DFW scene became legendary, Jerry Warden was there helping build it.In this unforgettable episode of The Zach Moonshine Show, Jerry takes listeners back to the early 1980s Texas metal underground, sharing firsthand stories from the birth of Warlock Texas, the rise of Pantera, Rigor Mortis, and the scene that helped shape heavy metal history.Along the way, Jerry reveals never-before-heard stories behind some of metal's most iconic moments, including the real story behind the famous photos of James Hetfield jamming with Dimebag Darrell, memories of hanging out with Metallica during the Ride the Lightning era, and how those legendary jam sessions came together. He also discusses Rita Haney's early connections within the scene and how those events unfolded from the perspective of someone who was actually there. The conversation dives deep into Pantera's early years, the evolution of Phil Anselmo's vocal style, wild backyard festivals that drew over a thousand fans, the creation of one of DFW's first true metal clubs, and the challenges of preserving heavy metal history through Jerry's Heavy Metal Hall of Fame. This isn't a history lesson from someone reading a book. It's firsthand testimony from someone who lived it, helped build it, and still carries the stories today. If you're a fan of Pantera, Metallica, Rigor Mortis, classic Texas metal, or the real history of the underground, this is an episode you won't want to miss.Originally broadcast live on Metal Devastation Radio with host Zach Moonshine.https://metaldevastationradio.com/thebeast/blog/29141/jerry-warden-reveals-the-untold-story-behind-the-famous-james-hetfield-and-dimebag-jam-session-plus-rare-tales-from-the-birth-of
