King Demogorgon of Sardonic Witchery Unleashes Chaos on The Zach Moonshine Show
Texas-based black thrash warlord Ricardo “KD” Mota, better known to the underground as King Demogorgon of Sardonic Witchery, storms onto Metal Devastation Radio for a raw, unfiltered conversation about the band’s savage compilation Under The Sign Of The Trident and the relentless force driving one of the underground’s most uncompromising projects.Broadcast straight from the trenches of the extreme metal world, this episode dives deep into the origins, philosophy, and future of Sardonic Witchery as King Demogorgon breaks down the decision to unleash a collection of re-recorded black metal anthems while the band prepares its next full-length assault.“We do exactly what I wanna do and we don’t have compromises with nobody.”During the conversation, Demogorgon reveals that the band has already completed their upcoming fifth album, a record he promises will push Sardonic Witchery into even more aggressive territory.“That will be a very different album. Some people will say, ‘What the hell is happening here?’”While fans wait for that next chapter, Under The Sign Of The Trident serves as both a celebration of the band’s past and a warning of what’s coming next. The interview also explores Demogorgon’s personal journey from Portugal to Switzerland and ultimately to Texas, where he rebuilt his life and reignited his musical mission after a turbulent period.“I came to Texas to clean my mind… it was supposed to be three months. I’ve been here fifteen years.”From those dark beginnings, Sardonic Witchery was born as a fiercely independent project that allowed Demogorgon to work without compromise.“When you do music by yourself, you can do whatever you want when you feel it.”Throughout the discussion, Demogorgon opens up about the occult inspiration behind the band’s name, the experiences that shaped his worldview, and the intense mindset that fuels Sardonic Witchery’s sound. He also reflects on his early influences, tracing his path from classic heavy metal and hard rock into the darker realms of extreme music.“When I discovered the more extreme stuff, I said, ‘This is what I like.’”The conversation doesn’t stop there. Fans also get a preview of what’s coming next for Sardonic Witchery, including international festival appearances, underground shows, and a brutal touring schedule that will bring their black thrash ritual to stages across the globe.Among the highlights:• Upcoming shows in the UK• A long-awaited appearance at Maryland Deathfest• A U.S. tour with Poland’s Besatt• Debut performances in both the UK and Mexico“Maryland Deathfest is something I wanted to do for a long time.”The interview is packed with stories from the road, reflections on the underground metal scene, and the kind of honest, no-filter discussion that only happens when true metal lifers sit down and talk shop. And of course, the show wraps exactly the way it should… with the command to turn the volume up and let the chaos flow.“Put your speakers in your windows… put them in your neighbor’s driveway… crank it loud.”If you live for raw black thrash, underground metal culture, and conversations with artists who refuse to play by the rules, this is one episode you don’t want to miss.Crank it up and step into the ritual.Check out the full show on mixcloud:https://www.mixcloud.com/thezachmoonshineshow/king-demogorgon-of-sardonic-witchery-unleashes-black-thrash-chaos-on-metal-devastation-radio/

NetherDred Interview | The Zach Moonshine Show | Inside the Netherverse & Lords of Mayhem
In this full interview segment from The Zach Moonshine Show, we sit down with cinematic power metal storytellers NetherDred for a deep, no-rush conversation that goes way beyond surface-level band talk. This is about world-building, real musicianship, and doing things the right way in a time when shortcuts are everywhere.Fresh off the release of their debut EP Lords of Mayhem, NetherDred break down how the band came together, how the Netherverse was born, and why telling timeless stories through characters matters more to them than chasing trends. As they put it,“There’s no fake musicians on here. There’s no AI anything. It’s us, raw. That’s the way we like it, and that’s the way we play it live.”We dig into the philosophy behind the Netherverse, a timeless realm designed to tell any kind of story, morality tale, tragedy, or warning without being boxed into clichés. Heroes rise, gods manipulate, and power corrupts, all told through riffs sharp enough to draw blood.“The Netherverse exists in a timeless state. The stories can come from any point in any time. That’s the beauty of it.”The band walks through the Lords of Mayhem EP track by track, introducing the God of Mayhem and the three heroes whose journeys will unfold across a planned trilogy of EPs. What starts as triumph slowly turns into corruption, manipulation, and reckoning.“It’s really about how absolute power corrupts absolutely.”We also get into the graphic novella and limited-edition merch, with only 100 copies made. Once they’re gone, they’re gone. For collectors and diehards, this is about owning a piece of a universe as it evolves.Beyond the lore, this interview goes full gearhead territory. We talk drum kits bought with college money, vintage Tama shells, endless snares, Marshall heads getting retired, Blackstar love affairs, EverTune bridges, custom-built guitar cabs, and bass guitars literally made from old pianos and fence posts. No presets. No plastic. Real wood, real amps, real hands.“This isn’t a finished instrument when you get it. You shape it yourself. In the end, it’s something nobody else has.”The band also reflects on their roots, growing up on vinyl collections, discovering KISS Alive, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer, and how those classic influences still shape the way they write and play today.“We didn’t say we’re going to play this kind of metal. We said we’re going to use our influences collectively, and whatever comes out of that is our kind of metal.”Vocalist Rachel’s operatic background, theatrical delivery, and character-driven lyrics get their due, along with how her presence completes the vision of the Netherverse on stage. We wrap things up with upcoming shows, festival plans, and a clear mission statement: build community, support the underground, and invest in the future of metal without forgetting where it came from.“Join us in the Netherverse. It’s a great place to escape.”If you love metal with lore, muscle, and authenticity, this is required viewing.Crank it loud. Respect the craft. And if you don’t see U-Haul trucks sliding on ice tomorrow, you didn’t turn it up enough.🤘🔥#ZachMoonshineShow #NetherDred #MetalDevastationRadio #LordsOfMayhem #Netherverse #MetalInterview #PowerMetal #NWOTHM #HeavyMetal #UndergroundMetal #IndependentMetal #MetalPodcast #MetalTalk #MetalCommunity #MetalFamily #NoAIMusic #RealMetal #SupportTheUnderground #MetalStorytelling #EpicMetal

Doom Descends w/ Burnt Witch
The Zach Moonshine Show: Doom Descends with Burnt Witch (Interview + “Bastard” Premiere)This show turned into one of those rare conversations where a local band doesn’t just talk riffs, they talk roots, gear, and the strange chain of events that turns normal people into doom lifers. Burnt Witch joined the program from Jackson, Tennessee, a stone’s throw from where Metal Devastation Fest shook the earth, and laid out how the band formed, how doom sunk its teeth into them, and how a festival can accidentally create a drummer. We dug into the early origins of the band starting as a recording project, pulling in old friends, and eventually recruiting Mike after he caught the doom bug while filming Sun Mantra at MDF. The crew gave a full history on how the EP came together, how the wizard skull artwork came about and why the name Burnt Witch beat out their original band name Dope Glitch. Speaking of art, we got the announcement that their debut EP “Dope Glitch” drops February 13th, a perfect date for doom fiends to celebrate. There was plenty of talk about Sabbath, Ozzy, Michael Jackson, skate videos on VHS, and how everyone remembers exactly where they were when they first heard the band that invented heavy. That spiraled into one of the realest conversations about influence and legacy that has come through this show in a long time. More than nostalgia, it was a reminder why heavy music exists at all.Gear nerds get fed too. The band broke down SGs, Baghdad pedals, Doomcasters, Hyper Fuzz chains, slinky mammoth strings, live drum recording, Reaper workflows, and why sample replacing everything sucks the life out of music. The philosophy was simple: feel matters, and you can hear and feel the player when the drums are actually recorded in a room.To top it off, we premiered their single “Bastard” before the official drop at midnight. The track is everything doom is supposed to be. Heavy, slow, punishing, and catchy in that weird way doom can be when it hits just right. It sits comfortably next to the greats while still having its own identity carved out of Jackson concrete.Burnt Witch is proof that heavy music does not belong to LA, New York, or Europe. It belongs to anyone willing to crank the amps, get weird, and dig deep. Jackson has a real scene forming and this band is a prime example of what small towns can crank out when people stop waiting for permission.Turn it up. Support your local heavy. Support the weird. Support the underground.Chapters / Topics Covered:• The origins of Burnt Witch and early lineup history• Inspiration from Metal Devastation Fest• Doom vs art school pretension and why vibe matters• Live drums, real performance, and recording philosophy• Sabbath, Ozzy, Michael Jackson, and childhood gateway moments• Gear breakdown for guitar and bass• EP announcement for “Dope Glitch” (Feb 13 release)• Artwork, logo, and visual identity• “Bastard” world premiere and the story behind it• Building a band in a small town without losing gritCheck out the full show here: https://www.mixcloud.com/thezachmoonshineshow/zach-moonshine-show-doom-descends-w-burnt-witch-bastard-world-premiere/

Axe Dragger LIVE – Minnesota Pete Campbell on Riffs, Brotherhood, and True Heavy Metal
Axe Dragger drummer Minnesota Pete Campbell joins The Zach Moonshine Show – Heavy Metal Reloaded for a deep, no-BS conversation about riffs, brotherhood, and why real heavy metal still matters. What started as a casual riff exchange turned into something nobody planned but nobody could stop.“The original origins of the band was me and Bob Balch,” Pete explains. “He started sending me these riffs and I was like, yeah… these are f***ing badass. Let’s do it.”That spark quickly escalated into a full-blown American heavy metal supergroup, pulling in Fredrik Isaksson of Dark Funeral and Candlemass, and eventually Terry Glaze, the original Pantera vocalist. Even Pete still sounds amazed when he tells it.“Bob texted me and said, ‘Dude, I’m friends with Terry Glaze on Instagram.’ I was like, yeah okay, whatever. Next thing I know, Terry sends the demo back… and that’s the take on the record. That was it. Goosebumps instantly.”Pete doesn’t sugarcoat it.“The minute I heard him, I was like, oh my God… this is exactly what this needs. It was perfect. We had no choice. We had to be a band.”Despite the lineup, the entire album was recorded remotely, something that makes the final result even more insane.“We’ve never actually played together. Ever,” Pete says. “Bob would send me tracks, I’d do drums, then it’d go to Fredrik, then Terry. But somehow it sounds like a live f***ing band.”And Axe Dragger is exactly that. Real. Organic. No trends. No polish-for-polish’s-sake.“This is my favorite and the best thing I’ve ever done,” Pete states flat out. “I’ll put my stamp of approval on this motherf***er forever.”The conversation dives deep into classic metal values, from riff-first songwriting to judging albums by their cover, just like we all used to.“That’s the kind of record where, back in the day, you’d flip through the bins and go, ‘This has got some nasty s*** on it.’ And you’d buy it just off the cover.”Pete also breaks down the band name, which came from a local beer near his home in Minnesota.“There’s a brewery down the street from me that has a beer called Axe Dragger. Bob goes, ‘Dude, that rules. That’s the band name.’ And that was it.”The episode also touches on recording philosophy, working with Ripple Music, the importance of lyrics, and why classic metal imagery still hits harder than anything AI-generated.“It’s not AI. It’s real dudes. It represents what’s inside the record.”Pete opens up emotionally when the discussion turns to Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Kiss, and the artists that shaped his life.“Those guys were my superheroes,” he says. “If it wasn’t for Ozzy and Sabbath, I wouldn’t be here doing this today. This wouldn’t exist.”Looking forward, Axe Dragger is already moving fast, with two more singles coming before the album drops March 6, 2026, and serious talks about live shows and festivals.“I thought I was retired,” Pete admits. “I was cool being a dad. Then this happened, and I was like… yeah, I’m doing it again.”This episode is a reminder of what heavy metal sounds like when it’s made by lifers, not algorithms. Four pros, locked in by instinct, dragging axes instead of chasing trends. As Pete puts it best:“You could pump your f***ing fist to every tune on this record. Studded bracelet mandatory.”Turn it up. Self God Interview: Serge on New Album, Working with Scott (Morbid Angel), and 2026 Tour Plans
Self God Interview: Serge on New Album, Working with Scott (Morbid Angel), and 2026 Tour Plans“The firefighters were literally trying to save my guitars while the building was burning down.”When 115,781 metal maniacs tuned in live to The Zach Moonshine Show this past Friday, they witnessed Serge, the driving force behind Black Death metal powerhouse Self God, dive deep into the making of their second full-length album, the chaos of extreme life on the road, and the band’s plans for 2026. Released October 31st via Vellus Records, Left Hand Pagan combines groove-driven riffs with merciless intensity.Pantera Groove Meets Black Death MetalSerge describes the new album as a mix of "typical Pantera groove" and "rapid-fire intensity," drawing inspiration from Dimebag Darrell and extreme acts like Behemoth and Belphegor. “Even though it’s got the rapid-fire intensity, there’s also groove mixed in… I’m always trying to write a riff that gets stuck in your head,” he explains. The album also features Scott Fuller, formerly of Morbid Angel, on drums. “He’s a drum machine… some smaller vegan guy, but he plays like four men combined,” Serge laughs.Trial by FireSerge opens up about surviving a 5:30 AM electrical fire that destroyed his apartment. “I fell asleep on my couch and woke up to everything on fire… got out just in time. I got lucky,” he says. Most of his guitars survived, though smoke and water damage required repairs. “Some of the firefighters actually tried to save my guitars… they poured out like a side and ship,” he recalls. The metal community rallied behind him via GoFundMe. “I’m overwhelmed by the amount of help I got… it was a beautiful thing. The metal community really came together,” Serge says.Gear & ToneEndorsed by Dean Guitars and Fishman Fluence pickups, Serge’s gear is as extreme as his riffs. He talks about his prized Dimebag Razorback VI: “I’ve had it since I was 16… it just feels good, sounds good. Totally different from any other guitar. I will never sell it.” Tour-ready Dean models, including the Evertune-equipped Vengeance and Explorer, provide unbeatable reliability. “Evertune keeps it together… I couldn’t recommend that more,” he says.Independent EthosSerge doesn’t hold back about record labels. “I’ve been signed to… I don’t care how many labels. They’re all ripping you off anyway,” he says. He prefers independence or working with small, dedicated labels. “I’d rather be a big fish in a small pond… I get all the money back. I can focus on Self God instead of waiting my turn on some label,” he explains. He encourages other bands to understand the business side: “Every band should invest in the business side… cut out the middleman.”Lyrics, Artwork, & Pagan ThemesLeft Hand Pagan delves into Slavic paganism and the darker side of ancient practices. “Some songs are anti-Christian from a Pagan standpoint… death gods, black magic… all that metal ship,” Serge says. The album artwork, created by Hex 13, features a horned figure amid a pile of bones, fully realizing Serge’s vision.Looking AheadFans can expect a new music video in the coming months and a 2026 US tour. “We’ll be touring the usual album cycle… hopefully see some of you folks in Tennessee,” Serge promises.Serge’s journey this year—from releasing a brutal new album to surviving a life-threatening fire—illustrates both the chaos and the camaraderie of the underground metal world. Through it all, he remains fiercely independent, unapologetically extreme, and committed to the music.Check out Self God’s Left Hand Pagan on all major platforms, and grab merch at selfgod.bandcamp.com.#SelfGod #BlackDeathMetal #ExtremeMetal #DeathMetal #BlackMetal #MetalCommunity #ZachMoonshineShow #MetalInterview #HeavyMetal #UndergroundMetal

Cultic Interview Dungeon Siege Takeover The Zach Moonshine Show
Here’s the full interview segment with Pennsylvania dungeon metal warlords Cultic from their Dungeon Siege Takeover. We got deep into Lore, the riffs, the world building, and the whole dungeon soaked atmosphere they forged. The band talked process, tone chasing, influences, artwork, and what drives them to keep hammering out something this heavy in a world that keeps getting louder and stranger. They kept it honest, they kept it sharp, and they brought the kind of grit only a trio that lives inside its own mythos can bring.A few moments that hit hard“Capturing the atmosphere is everything. If it does not feel like a world you can walk into, it does not belong on the record.”“We want every track to feel like a step deeper into the dungeon.”“Heaviness is not about volume. It is about intent.”“When the vision clicks, you feel it. That is when the riff comes alive.”If you missed the live show, this is the pure interview cut. No filler. Signs of the Swarm: Bobby Crow Talks Touring, New Album, and the Future of Deathcore - Interview
Signs of the Swarm: Bobby Crow Talks Touring, New Album, and the Future of DeathcoreOn The Zach Moonshine Show, Bobby Crow of Signs of the Swarm gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the band’s rise, their upcoming album To Rid Myself of Truth, and why the deathcore scene is stronger than ever.🎙️ “We’re just here to make fun heavy music and have a good time,” Bobby said. “There’s a little something for just about everybody if you like heavy [ __ ]!”With a highly anticipated Century Media Records release dropping August 22nd, the band is charging into their next chapter full-force. “We’ve got tours booked out to the end of the year,” he shared, listing an album release tour with Mental Cruelty, Carcosa, Face Yourself, and more. A special Pittsburgh Halloween hometown show will also feature the return of Belie My Burial after a 10-year hiatus.🧠 On the creative side, the new record mixes punishing heaviness with personal reflection. “A Cloud of Retinas,” for example, deals with frontman David’s degenerative eye condition. “He’s opening up more than ever,” Bobby explained. “It’s a battle between telling your own truth and keeping it relatable.”🎤 Cameos include Will Ramos (Lorna Shore), Phil Bozeman (Whitechapel), Jack from 156/Silence, and Johnny Crowder (Prison). “It’s all people we know personally,” Bobby emphasized. “We wrote the tracks with them in mind. It wasn’t just pulling names for clout—it came together organically.”The band also experiments sonically, with Bobby detailing how they sample everyday sounds like slamming car trunks, squeaky drum stools, and even basement junk to create thunderous, unique effects. “We try to find random stuff just to make ear candy. Some of it is hilarious, but it ends up sounding heavy as hell.”On the band’s genre-blending appeal, Bobby said: “We all listen to different stuff, and we don’t want to be boxed in. It’s gotta be heavy—but also catchy and fun.”📼 Their cinematic music videos continue to impress, thanks to the vision of vocalist Dave and longtime video collaborator Eric DiCarlo. “We’ve built a little family of people who know what we want,” Bobby said. When asked about coming to Tennessee for the Metal Devastation Music Fest, Bobby didn’t hesitate: “Dude, yes. Chris explained the inspiration stems from creature features like Starship Troopers and King Kong, hoping to one day merge music with special effects-heavy videos. “I wanted to combine my love of music and special effects,” he said. They also reminisced about last year’s festival highlights, from getting the crowd pumped before noon to guest vocals with Autumn Lies Buried, and yes, the legendary air mattress surfing. “Just seeing the crowd reaction that early... the whole fest was a standout moment,” they agreed. When asked what to expect this year, they hinted at more surprises and possible collaborations with fellow bands like Filth and Septarian: “Let’s just see how the weeks go,” Chris teased. Before signing off, they left fans with one message:🗣️ “Come catch us wherever you can catch us… we’re just going to play to however many people show up.”#QuiescentMantis #MetalDevastationFest #TennesseeMetalFest #UndergroundMetal #LiveMetal #Deathcore #MetalInterview #ZachMoonshineShow #MetalDevastationRadio #Crowbar #Eyehategod #SupportUndergroundMetal #MetalScene #SciFiMetal #AirMattressMoshPit #ExodusStrategem #MetalFestSeasonCatch the full show here at this link: https://www.mixcloud.com/thezachmoonshineshow/swarm-and-fury-signs-of-the-swarm-quiescent-mantis-live-on-the-zach-moonshine-show/Get tickets to the fest at this link: https://www.hubcityevents.com/events/tennessee-metal-devastation-music-fest-2025-10-11-2025

On a scorching Friday night, Alabama-based extreme metal band SEPTARIAN joined The Zach Moonshine Show on Metal Devastation Radio for a no-holds-barred live interview that dug deep into the band's roots, influences, future plans, and their excitement to perform at Tennessee Metal Devastation Music Fest 2025.🔥 ON JOINING THE FESTIVALThe band was fired up about their long-awaited slot on the Tennessee fest: “We’ve been trying for the last three years to get on this [] festival. We are super [] excited.” – Josh (Guitar)Zach echoed the anticipation, calling their track Threshold a “badass [__] track” and comparing their energy to early Arch Enemy.🪓 ORIGINS & EVOLUTIONGuitarist Josh and drummer Kenneth have been jamming together for over 25 years, starting out in bands where Kenneth even handled vocals. The project evolved from a prior group called Double Barrel Democracy, but after significant lineup and style changes, they decided: “F*** it, man. It's not really the same band, so let's just rebrand it and call it something else.”SEPTARIAN’s vocalist Megan is Kenneth’s daughter, making it a literal family affair: “It’s in my blood. What can I say?”🔊 INFLUENCES & STYLEEach member brings a unique flavor to the band’s sound: Megan (vocals): Inspired by classic Arch Enemy and Angela Gossow – “To be compared to Angela, that’s no small thing.” John (bass): Malevolent Creation, Napalm Death, Morbid Angel. Nick (lead guitar): From classical and Ozzy to Dying Fetus and Aborted. Josh (guitar): A wide palette including Duran Duran, Death, Fear Factory. Kenneth (drums): Inspired by early Metallica — “When the Metallica video One hit… that [] was the baddest [] when you’re a kid.”🛠 GEARHEAD CORNER Josh uses a Kemper rig through a power amp into a 4x12 cab. John plays through an SVT head into an Ampeg 810 with a SansAmp. Megan uses a Sennheiser 835 wireless mic for crystal-clear gutturals. Kenneth rocks a Tama Starclassic 7-piece double bass kit: “I can set my big ass [__] up faster than you can set your two-piece up!”📀 UPCOMING RELEASE: Blood ScriptureSEPTARIAN has been recording with Jamie Ols (aka SP) of Silver Studios (NY), a longtime friend who also works with Gojira: “He was letting Joe [from Gojira] listen to our songs, and Joe said he really liked them.”Their upcoming full-length album is titled Blood Scripture. In the meantime, three singles are being prepped for release with teasers and announcements to follow.🤝 SIGNING WITH DARK SAILS ENTERTAINMENTThe band signed with Dark Sails Entertainment after being recommended by a former Silence System drummer. Gus Pynn of SACRIFICE on The Zach Moonshine Show – The Return of a Thrash Metal Giant
Gus Pynn of SACRIFICE Talks "Volume Six," Thrash Legacy, and the Rebirth of Canadian Metal on The Zach Moonshine ShowCanadian thrash metal legends SACRIFICE have roared back with Volume Six , their first studio album in over 16 years — and drummer Gus Pynn joined The Zach Moonshine Show for a raw and riveting conversation about the band’s journey from the underground to the modern day.Formed in Scarborough, Ontario in 1984 , Sacrifice helped forge the early Canadian thrash metal scene alongside icons like Razor and Slaughter. Gus recalled joining the band in 1985 , after seeing them live at Larry’s Hideaway:“I was just this guy that happened to go to the show... next thing you know, I was lucky enough to get a phone call from those guys... I showed up, played a couple songs — a couple Slayer songs — and those guys were pretty impressed.”That jam included early Slayer tracks like “The Antichrist” , mixed with Sacrifice originals from their first demo, and helped cement Gus's place in the lineup.Volume Six showcases Sacrifice at their most intense and personal, with themes of war, addiction, trauma , and survival . Gus noted that most of the album was written after the pandemic, saying, "By the time the end of '22 came, we were like, all right, we're gonna bear down and finish this fucking record." Originally planned as an EP, the sessions exploded into a 11-track monster, recorded at Phase One Studios .The album is available on CD, vinyl, and cassette via Curse Blessings Records (North America) and High Roller Records (internationally). Gus praised both labels and emphasized how the band's old-school approach — from lyric sheets to layout — was key: "It seemed like one of our old records, like nothing has ever changed with us."In discussing the current state of metal, Gus made a powerful statement: “I think it's probably the best year for thrash I've ever seen in my lifetime. That's my own personal opinion.” He shouted out rising acts like Chemicide and Corrosive , applauding a new wave of bands keeping the fire alive. This interview is a must-listen for fans of true, uncompromising thrash metal — part history lesson, part celebration, and all heart.#SACRIFICE #VolumeSix #GusPynn #ZachMoonshineShow #CanadianThrash #MetalDevastationRadio #ThrashMetal #SupportTheUndergroundCheck out the full show here at this link: https://www.mixcloud.com/thezachmoonshineshow/gus-pynn-of-sacrifice-on-the-zach-moonshine-show-the-return-of-a-thrash-metal-giant/Check out the band here at this link: https://sacrificecanada.bandcamp.com/Check out more live interviews every Friday night at https://metaldevastationradio.com
