Standing among the charred remains, Jesus claims to be the fulfilment of everything the festival symbolised.Tracing the theme of light from creation through the Old Testament, we see that darkness isn't merely out there. It resides within every human heart. Jesus offers freedom from that darkness through his death and resurrection.The cross becomes the place where the light shines brightest, where "the light of the world by darkness was slain" yet rose victorious.
