Jesus, Women, and the SBC Vote

I’ve been asked by several my thoughts on Jesus and women. I’ve also been asked lately if I’d write an article regarding women in leading roles within the church and my thoughts on the highly publicized vote regarding women in my former denomination, SBC. My simplified response is, “This is a matter of gifting not gender. You can’t remove the shepherding gift from a woman any more than you can remove the shepherding gift from a man. It was given when He formed us in the womb and is simply part of who we are. ” So, here goes a discussion with just some looks at the scriptures within the fullness of the Word, as well as some common sense points that might help us to understand Paul, and Christ, a little better. Ultimately, we will each be held responsible for how we’ve navigated this topic because, honestly, it’s gotten quite hateful and void of the fruits of the Spirit. We should each remember that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. added Note: I mention 4 daughters of the OT. They are daughters of Zelophehad and you can find them in Numbers 27 with vs 6 as a key verse: And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: “The daughters of Zelophehad speak what is right; you shall surely give them a possession of inheritance among their father's brothers, and cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them.
