I am Lewis saying hello to you all from Yangzhou.大家周五早上好,今天是四月三号! 我是Lewis,在扬州给大家晨读!今天的中国文化特辑跟大家聊 都江堰 1.Around 2200 years ago, a governor of Sichuan found that the floods happen frequently in the raining season, and water storage was short during the dry season.2.Therefore,based on the geographical features of the Minjiang river and without doing any damage to the natural environment, he built a special structure dam.3.The dam is known as Dujiangyan.4.Dujiangyan functions to direct water and divert floods and sands.5.Thanks to the dam, the region would no longer be plagued by flooding during the raining season and water supply would be sufficient in the dry season.6.Dujiangyan has functioned for more than 2200 years, even the earthquake with the magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale in 2008 which happened near the dam didn’t destroy it.7.Dujiangyan reflects the idea that land, water and people can live in harmony.
