Jill Dando

from Blue Murder Club

Back in 1999 Jill was a firm TV favourite appearing on many high profile BBC programmes, but most notably as one of the presenters of Crimewatch. The country was in shock when, on the morning of the 26th April 1999 the news came through that Jill had been shot dead on her doorstep. Having no leads the police did a re-enactment the following week on Crimewatch and after a year a man called Barry George was arrested and sent to prison for the murder. Following a re-trial 8 years later, Mr George was acquitted and released and there the case remains to this day, unsolved. Support the show! In Kurt Vonnegut: Reporter on the Afterlife, Vonnegut skips back and forth between life and the Afterlife as if the difference between them were rather slight. In light hearted interviews with Sir Issac Newton, Adolf Hitler, Isaac Asimov, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, William Shakespeare, Joan of Arc, and Kilgore Trout, among others - Vonnegut trips down “the blue tunnel to the pearly gates” in the guise of a roving reporter for public radio, all the while dodging the crotchety bureaucrat, Saint Peter. Kurt Vonnegut: Reporter on the Afterlife, began in 1999 as a series of 90 Second interludes for WNYC, New York City’s public radio station. It has evolved over the past 25 years through writing and rewriting, into a fiction podcast adventure series - available everywhere you listen to pods. It would start with a performance from the orchestra, or sometimes a joke between Benny and Wilson. This was followed by gags between Benny and the rest of the cast, usually about the day's news, or about the characters themselves, most especially something about Benny's life.
