Back in 1999 Jill was a firm TV favourite appearing on many high profile BBC programmes, but most notably as one of the presenters of Crimewatch.The country was in shock when, on the morning of the 26th April 1999 the news came through that Jill had been shot dead on her doorstep. Having no leads the police did a re-enactment the following week on Crimewatch and after a year a man called Barry George was arrested and sent to prison for the murder.
